Seminarfest 2019 Was A Great Success!

Posted: Feb 03, 2019

Several Hawkeye Chapter members escaped bitterly cold January temperatures…

by attending the ASSP Seminarfest in Las Vegas, Nevada.

There were multiple opportunities to participate in Speed Networking…

And there were evening networking events…

But the best part of the Seminarfest week was the great assortment of well-planned ASSP educational courses that ranged in length from 1/2 day to 3 days long.

These allowed participants to gain a detailed understanding of the subjects being covered, and to work through case studies in small groups.

After the day’s classroom time was concluded, participants found many exciting attractions to see in the Las Vegas area…

We sure hope you can make it out to Seminarfest 2020!

E-Mail issues

If you have difficulty getting ASSP or chapter emails delivered to your inbox, it’s likely they are being blocked by your ISP or company’s spam filter. Why might a spam filter do this? It could be due to an aggressive stance against commercial messages or the filter may be programmed to not allow the same message to be sent to many different recipients at the same time.In these situations, the first step is to whitelist ASSP on your desktop computer or through your company’s IT department.

Whitelisting identifies ASSP as a safe sender from whom you want to receive messages. You can whitelist chapter emails. For example, updates@chapter.assp.org, wherein chapter.assp.org would be replaced by your chapter’s web address (e.g., chicago.assp.org).You can also whitelist Society emails using bounce@send.assp.org.

Even if you whitelisted Society and chapter messages in the past, you may need to do so again now that we have become ASSP – that is, change that “e” to a “p” in your settings. For more information about whitelisting, contact ASSP’s web team.

We Are Safety Professionals!

After the record-setting conference in San Antonio, TX, our Society’s name was officially changed to the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP).

As a result, the website for Society is now www.assp.org.

Be sure to check this out, as it has gone through quite a “facelift”.  As you probably already noticed, our Chapter website URL changed the “e” to a “p” as well.  If you used your browser’s bookmarks, you were probably re-directed to this page automatically.  However, make sure you adjust your bookmarks to show that our URL is now “http://hawkeye.assp.org“.

As with all change, it takes a little getting used to.  However, it is quite easy to remember the slogan ASSP is using, “We are safety Professionals!”

You can follow Society on Twitter: search for @ASSPSafety
