Environmental Health and Safety Specialist (3rd Shift)

As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist, you will support the development, implementation and maintenance of the Company’s safety, health and environmental policies and standards. This role has Environmental, Safety and Health responsibilities for large special order engineered manufacturing facility located in Marshalltown, Iowa. This shift is 11:30 pm until 8:00 am.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be

  • Maintain regulatory compliance for OSHA required regulations as well as Emerson Corporate Standards. 
  • Review and implement revisions of EHS processes, guidelines, programs and policies to plant personnel.
  • Perform Incident investigations, root cause analysis, make recommendations for actions necessary to prevent recurrence, and track performance.
  • Perform Ergonomic Risk Assessments and implement process modifications.
  • Development of LOTO procedures.
  • Development of Job Safety Analysis.
  • Complete machine assessments for proper machine guarding.
  • Recommend safety initiatives, solution options, and compliance programs to management.
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate EHS communications and design/revise training programs for OSHA required programs, BBS implementation, and general safety awareness.
  • Maintenance of monthly safety and health inspections/internal audits and disposition of open action items. 
  • Recognition, evaluation, and mitigation of workplace hazards including development and implementation of processes, work procedures, programs, and training.
  • Active participation in safety initiative teams.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences including company and corporate personnel, union, and government officials.

For This Role, You Will Need

  • Bachelor Degree (B.A./B.S) from four-year college or university in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene/Safety, Environmental Mgmt./Engineering, Safety engineering or related field
  • Experience with environmental management in a manufacturing environment and facility
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety elements
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, root cause analysis, industrial hygiene, lockout/tagout, confined spaces, and hazardous materials
  • Leadership and coordination across teams and functions
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Effective planning, prioritization, and project leadership
  • Strong communication and analytical skills; able to analyze data, identify trends, and make recommendations

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart

  • 2 – 4 years related experience in health and safety; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
